Durham County Council who provide all our grass cutting through a SLA have arrived on site this morning to start works. This was thanks to our Clerk chasing this up over the last few weeks and not the debate on social media platforms. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 situation grounds maintenance staff had been redeployed to other areas in the county. This was a county level decision.
However on arrival this morning it has been discovered that the lock has been damaged. This is the 3rd lock that has been deliberately tampered with resulting in further delay. This is unacceptable and yet another lock that will need to be replaced.
We would ask that anyone living near The Old Recreation Ground and our parks to please be vigilant, reporting anything directly to the parish council.
The Parish Council have an SLA (service level agreement) with Durham County Council who are responsible for the grass cutting. Currently all play parks in the parish are closed due to Covid-19 and grounds maintenance staff have been deployed to other services in the county such as cemetery works and refuse collections. We have requested an update to when they will be attending to the parks and recreation ground. This also applies to all other parish land. Before play parks do reopen, works will be carried out on the grass and inspections of the equipment will be carried out. We still await when this will be subject to local and government guidance.
The Parish Council has remained contactable throughout the ongoing Covid-19 situation and can be contacted either via the email address on the top of this page or via the contact form or by telephone during the office hours. At present the parish office remains closed to the public however will revert to the public hours once we are able.
Esh Parish Council will be lighting up the village once again this year. Additional areas will be illuminated, thanks to businesses offering to cover the cost of the electricity. We will be holding our annual event on Saturday 7th December 2019, concluding with the lighting of the village Christmas Tree. Further information will be posted closer to the time.
